[personal profile] bessyboo posting in [community profile] podfication
For folks not in easy driving distance of the Twin Cities, you can use this post to find roommates to share a hotel room with or connect up with some of the locals who are able to host some attendees for the weekend!

The GPS Community Center is located at 1121 NE Jackson St., Minneapolis MN 55413. There are quite a few hotels in downtown Minneapolis that are an easy bus ride away. Google Maps should be able to give you the logistical lowdown on that, depending on which hotel you're looking up. Metro Transit also has your back.

Many people last year stayed in groups in Airbnbs near the venue, which worked out really well, and we highly recommend! While we'll leave actual rental & group organization up to you, we definitely encourage you to use this option :)

Note from Jo: You may be tempted to stay at the University Inn off of 4th St as it's the closest hotel to the center, but trust me and do not do the thing. Maybe something has changed in the last decade since I lived in that area, but I know it as a place to avoid and am thus passing on this important info.

Locals, if you have some guest rooms or couch space you're able to spare, please chime in! Any space available at an individual's home is at their discretion, of course.

Anyone interested in sharing a Airbnb?

Good timing! I was actually planning on posting here about an Airbnb in a few days.

I did one last year too and it was really fantastic. This year, I'd rather not have to rush out on Sunday afternoon to catch a flight. So I'm planning on a three night Airbnb (Fri, Sat, Sun) instead of two nights. Are you (or anyone else!) interested in that timing?

That'd be perfect! What kind of airbnb are you thinking about?

Last year most of us (I think there were 4 Airbnb groups?) did houses within walking distance of the venue that were 4-6 people

I'll have to look closer when I get home, but the second and third potentially look good! The first one is too far away for walking. And if you want, you can look through last year's lodgings finder post and see if any of the ones we talked about there are still available

Okay so, I had a chance to look more :)

I really like the idea of the third one you posted, because it looks so close to the location.

I haven't just searched around airbnb yet, but from the thread where we discussed airbnbs last year, here are some of my favorites:
- This is actually the place I stayed last year. It was super great and super close, but it's more expensive.
- This one looks very pretty and is a lot cheaper. I'd prefer a whole house instead of an apartment though, so we wouldn't have neighbors if we record something!
- And this is I think my current favorite. Whole house, lots of space, inexpensive, and looks close!

Honestly, if you really like the last one too, I'd almost say let's grab one or two more people and book it right away (and then add people later if anyone else wants in, it sleeps 8). It looks like that place is booked almost all the time, so I'd want to get it while it's still available.

Booked it! We're able to cancel up to 5 days before the trip, so if we change our minds or something comes up, it's easy to make a change.

Can you send me your full name and email address to add to the reservation? Twitter or dreamwidth, either one works!

Most of the places in the area are good for 4-6 people
