Podfication on Indefinite Hold

Hello Podfication Community,

You may have already heard the news, but for financial reasons resulting from the pandemic our friends at the Geek Partnership Society ended their lease and vacated their community center rooms at the Waterbury Building in Minneapolis as of January 2023. Podfication has always been a small gathering for podfic fans and creators. The GPS facility and their generous support of small fandom organizations like ours was the chief reason we had an affordable space to host our event.

Between dwindling ability to attend in person events due to the pandemic, the closure of the GPS facility, and skyrocketing hotel costs, the bottom line is that it is no longer feasible for Podfication to be held in person. And regrettably, my own bandwidth has become limited so I'm unable to give a virtual Podfication the attention it would deserve.

I'm sorry to say that this means that Podfication is on indefinite hold. It's been a great run and I want to sincerely thank everyone who attended and supported our little convention. I genuinely hope we have the opportunity to connect again in the future.

I regret that I never got to attend Podfication...but seeing this post reminded me about wanting to learn to podfic (I keep suggesting a "Podfic for Beginners" panel at various cons, but what I really wish I had was one in-person mentor).

<3333 Thank you for all the awesome years of Podfication! It will forever have an important place in my heart and we're very lucky for all the work you've given us in running this Con over the years. This decision makes great sense to me (while I'm sad that that's the way things are), and is clearly made with the same care with which you've run this Con and I'm grateful for that too.

I was only able to go one year but I had a most excellent time. It was a priceless opportunity to meet international fellow fandom people. This convention has a special place in my heart, and just knowing it has existed makes me glad.

My deepest thanks for giving this all the love and time and devotion you did.
