2018 Lodgings Finder Post
Mar. 31st, 2018 09:53 amFor folks not in easy driving distance of the Twin Cities, you can use this post to find roommates to share a hotel room/Airbnb with, or connect up with locals who are able to host some attendees for the weekend!
The GPS Community Center is located at 1121 NE Jackson St., Minneapolis MN 55413. There are quite a few hotels in downtown Minneapolis that are an easy bus ride away. Google Maps should be able to give you the logistical lowdown on that, depending on which hotel you're looking up. Metro Transit also has your back for planning your bus route.
Many people in previous years have stayed in groups in Airbnbs near the venue, which has worked out really well, and we highly recommend! While we'll leave actual rental & group organization up to you, we definitely encourage you to use this option. :)
As always: You may be tempted to stay at the University Inn off of 4th St as it's the closest hotel to the center, but trust me and do not do the thing. Maybe something has changed in the last decade since I lived in that area, but I know it as a place to avoid and am thus passing on this important info.
Locals, if you have some guest rooms or couch space you're able to spare, please post to let folks know! Any space available at an individual's home is at their discretion, of course.

Re: 3 nights
Date: 2018-09-01 10:18 pm (UTC)Once the reservation is accepted, then I will have a reservation code that I can share with everyone, and we will have three days to pay for the airbnb. We can each pay for our part through airbnb directly which is really nice.
If there are any problems with this then we can cancel for free within 48 hours of now, so speak up!
If you want to pay right now, instead of waiting until tomorrow then you can email me (yourgrantaire at gmail) your airbnb name and your email address and I can send you the link.
Re: 3 nights
Date: 2018-09-01 10:48 pm (UTC)Our reservation has been accepted and I now have the link to pay for the Airbnb. I am not going to post it out here on the internet because that seems unsafe but email/dm/message me or shmaylor for the link!
Re: 3 nights
Date: 2018-09-02 10:07 am (UTC)I'll dm you in a moment for the link. Is it one link per person or can you pay/add info for 2 people at once?
Re: 3 nights
Date: 2018-09-02 12:12 pm (UTC)I'm pretty sure how it works is that you can only pay for one at a time, but you can use it more than once. You pay for "empty guest spot #x" and then can come back and pay for spot #y
