Panel Requests 2017
Panel requests for 2017 are now open! Click here!
We're accepting submissions up through 11:59pm CST on September 9, 2017.
Never run a panel before? No problem! The stakes are low and the Podfication crowd is super chill. If you've got a topic you want to talk about with people for an hour, you can run a panel! Interested in running a demo, game, or event instead? No problem! Submit your idea through the same form and tell us all about it.

Any questions, just let us know!

Never run a panel before? No problem! The stakes are low and the Podfication crowd is super chill. If you've got a topic you want to talk about with people for an hour, you can run a panel! Interested in running a demo, game, or event instead? No problem! Submit your idea through the same form and tell us all about it.
A few things to be aware of:
- You can submit more than one idea!
- If we run out of space and you've submitted more than one idea, we may have to choose between them. So if there's one topic you favor over others let us know!
- Have an idea but don't want to run it alone? Drop a comment on this thread asking for co-panelists!
- Would you like to help run a panel but don't have a good topic of your own? Check the comments!
Some more relevant info:
- We'll have a screen, projector, and speakers for the panel room, but you'll have to provide your own laptop or other device to connect up to it. The projector has a VGA input. If your device exports through HDMI, we've got an adapter for that you can borrow. If all you need is audio, as long as your device has a standard audio jack you're good.
Any questions, just let us know!

I'm feeling much more like brainstorming panel ideas than straight-up submitting panel proposals at the moment, so let's talk.
Here are the ideas I've currently got:
-Something about podfic challenges. It can have some about mod experiences (and tips and stories and thoughts), some about participant experiences (and tips and stories and thoughts) and then some brainstorming/wishlist type stuff at the end for challenges we'd like to see/like to run going forward.
-Something about podfic fandom over time. Starting with history, early memories, big milestones, and then talking about what feels different over time and how we predict (or would like to push) podfic fandom to change in the next few years.
-Something about dealing with podfic slumps/lack of confidence. I submitted a description for this last year that hopefully is kicking around somewhere and could be found again. But basically thoughts about what sort of things happen that can get in the way of podfic inspiration, and sharing thoughts about how to re-inspire oneself. I have a small file of clips from interviews of actors (and one song) that I think are inspirational in podfic slumps, and if others had stuff to contribute and we could expand the inspiration toolkit and make it a shared resource, that would be a really cool outcome!
-Also, I am very interested in the topic of using improv/ad lib in podfic. I don't have much to say about it, though—I'd more just share my experience using it in this podfic and a couple other half-formed thoughts about other projects that could use it, and then open it up for other people to share experiences and brainstorm. This might fit better as just a portion of the comms one or something, rather than being its own panel...
-ALSO, at Winter Chillfest, we developed and tested a way to play podfic twister, and it was FUN and I think it would be really fun to host a round of it at Podfication
-Also, I'd like to reprise the In-Person Podfic Love Fest
What do you think? Which of these are interesting to people and should be developed further? Does anybody want to comod any of these with me?

Raise You Up: Getting Out of Podfic Slumps
If you ever get in a place where you doubt yourself as a podficcer or can't find the energy or inspiration to podfic, this panel is for you. We'll discuss some of the things that cause podfic slumps, share strategies that have worked to get us out of them and/or ideas to try in future, and, if there's time, we'll listen to and discuss some (possibly slump-busting?) songs and interview clips geared towards podficcer inspiration!

But if I had to choose, I'd say the improv/ad lib one would be up there (if there are people who've done it there to teach us their ways), with the love fest and the twister, that are just awesome ideas (though I'm not really sure what you mean by podfic twister...?), and then the podfic slumps and exchanges.
I don't know if a podfic history pannel would be that interesting, in the sense that it's already been discussed so many times? It would need to be more than just rehashing the same informations.
But of course, I can't speak for anyone other than myself.
I'm sorry, the only topic there I know enough about to feel qualified comodding is the podfic slumps one, but I'd just end up sounding like a self-help book, and anyway it's apparently already taken care of.
Except if by comod, you mean writing on the board, then count me in!

I think the podfic history one could be interesting, but would depend on where attendees are coming from? I feel like many of us have lived through most of the big ~events in podfic history.
I'd actually be EXTREMELY interested in doing an improv/ad lib panel! I've done this for a few things (most notably this). I'm wondering if it might make sense to combine that with some talk about oral not!fic under a banner of "Podficcing Without A Script" or something?
I was ABSOLUTELY hoping you'd bring the in-person love fest back :)
And I have no idea how podfic twister would work, but I'm very intrigued!!

Okay, you've talked me into Podficcing Without a Script! I have no experience with oral notfic myself, but I think you're right that a big chunk of the panel would be that, so I'd need a comod. Maybe I could talk reena_jenkins into it!
Podfic twister is still kind of in beta, since we've only played it once, but it was SO FUN, and I am excited for us to tweak the rules a bit based on that and test it out again at Podfic Summer Sizzle. And then PODFICATION HERE WE COME!

I like the idea of a permission panel. It's been long enough since we had a big discussion about that, and it'd be nice to do in a meetspace place that isn't written down to attract wank.

(Both offers for comodding noted and appreciated! Let me wait for a bit and see if there's anyone who wants to jump in who isn't already modding or comodding any panels, and then we can decide from there?)
