2018 Lodgings Finder Post
For folks not in easy driving distance of the Twin Cities, you can use this post to find roommates to share a hotel room/Airbnb with, or connect up with locals who are able to host some attendees for the weekend!
The GPS Community Center is located at 1121 NE Jackson St., Minneapolis MN 55413. There are quite a few hotels in downtown Minneapolis that are an easy bus ride away. Google Maps should be able to give you the logistical lowdown on that, depending on which hotel you're looking up. Metro Transit also has your back for planning your bus route.
Many people in previous years have stayed in groups in Airbnbs near the venue, which has worked out really well, and we highly recommend! While we'll leave actual rental & group organization up to you, we definitely encourage you to use this option. :)
As always: You may be tempted to stay at the University Inn off of 4th St as it's the closest hotel to the center, but trust me and do not do the thing. Maybe something has changed in the last decade since I lived in that area, but I know it as a place to avoid and am thus passing on this important info.
Locals, if you have some guest rooms or couch space you're able to spare, please post to let folks know! Any space available at an individual's home is at their discretion, of course.

#AnimeHouse
My one stipulation is that I know your face in the real world or one of my other roomies can vouch for you.
Upsides of this: Free! My house is pretty nice if I do say so myself. You will also get Freedom Waffles™ at some point.
Downsides: My place is pretty much inaccessible via public transit and about a 20 minute drive from the venue. It also means that you have to keep my hours unless you have a means of transportation of your own, so it's an early drive out to the con each morning and a late drive back.
Let me know if you're interested. I have a futon, air mattress, and large couch to spare!
Re: #AnimeHouse
Is the futon/air mattress/couch still available?

These are the best 4 options I found for the 19th-22nd.
Option 1 - Looks like it may be the closest to the venue, but most expensive. $728.03 total. 6 people (the listing says 7, but I think that includes 2 people on a double bed, which is a little tight), 2 of those would be couch sleepers.
Option 2 - $524.91 for 6 people. 4 bed spaces, 2 couches (but they look a little small? idk I'm a tall person), and a giant looking finished basement with floor space if anyone wants to bring an air mattress. Location is a little offset, not too far, but doesn't look like there is a good direct way to walk there. Parking on site though if anyone is driving.
Option 3 - Furthest away, but my favorite. $646.27 for 6 people. 5 bed spaces, 1 couch space, 2 bathrooms. Looks clean, large, and simple.
Option 4 - Technicalllly the cheapest, but smallest. $441.93, and only fits 4 people, so the cost is divided over less people. The listing says 5, but again, I'm not counting a double bed as 2 people.
Thoughts? Is everyone still interested or have people found other places since I took forever to get to this? And of course, if there are more people interested, we can split between multiple airbnbs :D

Re: 3 nights
Depending on how many folks are still interested, if we have to branch off into a 2nd airbnb, there's a close but small one here for probably 4 people (2 queen beds)
Re: 3 nights
If you guys do split off, I'd love to join you!
I think I've wandered in too late to be part of Shmaylor's group? (Whoooooops)
Re: 3 nights
I figure we'll wait another day or two and then make decisions based on who's chimed in on the options

Re: 3 nights
Once the reservation is accepted, then I will have a reservation code that I can share with everyone, and we will have three days to pay for the airbnb. We can each pay for our part through airbnb directly which is really nice.
If there are any problems with this then we can cancel for free within 48 hours of now, so speak up!
If you want to pay right now, instead of waiting until tomorrow then you can email me (yourgrantaire at gmail) your airbnb name and your email address and I can send you the link.
Re: 3 nights
Our reservation has been accepted and I now have the link to pay for the Airbnb. I am not going to post it out here on the internet because that seems unsafe but email/dm/message me or shmaylor for the link!
Re: 3 nights
I'll dm you in a moment for the link. Is it one link per person or can you pay/add info for 2 people at once?
Re: 3 nights
I'm pretty sure how it works is that you can only pay for one at a time, but you can use it more than once. You pay for "empty guest spot #x" and then can come back and pay for spot #y
Re: 3 nights
Re: 3 nights
Also if that doesn't work, I know klb is looking for someone to split a hotel room with!
